Mary M | Springfield Chatham IL Maternity Photographer

While the buds are barely growing on the trees in early April and the weather is crazy unpredictable (I’m pretty sure we had snow on April 1st), every now and then you get a gorgeous day that provides the perfect backdrop for a sweet early spring session.  It was the.perfect.evening.   Temperature in the upper 70s, beautiful golden sunset and a darling couple!   I first met this couple at a dear friends 4th of July get together, my friends husband worked with this future dad-to-be.   Crazy enough, several months later this future momma-to-be would become my daughters’s Kindergarten teacher.   Now, flash forward a couple years later and I get the opportunity to photograph their maternity and newborn images!

Fun to note is that they allowed me to have a videographer come and take some video of me working with them.   The resulting  video can be  seen here: www.bluedaisyart.com/about/a-peek-into-blue-daisy-art-photography-springfield-il-photographer/   Also, her outfit is from my studio “maternity closet.”  If you book your newborn/maternity session with me and you can come over and select from some of my gorgeous maternity-wear. Various sizes and styles are available.

Maxwell 10 months old | Springfield Rochester IL Baby Photographer

In my line of work I have had the chance to photograph a lot of babies.   In their short lives though, some babies have more eventful lives than others and Max is one of those. Prior to his being born, his mom bid on and won a session that I had donated for the Style of Hope Benefit.  His momma likely thought it would be used on Max’s newborn session.   However, born early weighing only 1 lb 9 oz “miracle max” had to fight for every minute, hour and day of his sweet life.   Three months of care from the neonatal intensive care unit staff and little Max was ready to go home on oxygen and a heart monitor.   After his discharge from the hospital his mom and I decided that his session would best be done as a milestone session and I cannot tell you how glad I was that we waited.  This little guy was the sweetest boy and full of adorable smiles. His bright blue eyes and fine blond hair were just the cutest!

On a side note, his mom owns an ADORABLE little store here in Springfield, IL that if you haven’t checked it out yet…you need to.  Kennedy Sue Gift & Home is located on the westside of Springfield and offer up some of the most unique items.  From adorable baby and wedding gifts to jewelry and modern farmhouse decor items, they are a hidden gem in the area.  So go visit them. Josie 8 years old Glitter Session | Springfield Chatham IL Photographer

Over the past couple months I have seen a lot of photographers advertising glitter sessions.   If you have been following my blog, you have seen that I have done this sessions in the past and they are certainly fun.   I’ve never officially offered glitter sessions but I can integrate them into your child’s session for no additional charge if this is something you are interested in.

Last year around this time I was working on Keira and Kimber’s session where we ended the session with some glitter fun.   My adorable 7, almost 8 year old, saw the images on my computer and sweetly requested that SHE get to play with glitter in my studio.   So, when the time came for her to turn 8, her GOLDEN birthday I knew I had to accommodate her request.   We had SO much fun with this session and it *almost* made up for me finding glitter in my studio for months, lol.

Hattie | Leland Grove Springfield IL Newborn Photographer

Adorable Hattie’s parents were my birth clients several years ago when their first daughter Coralie was born.  It was such a fantastic experience to be able to capture her birth day and newborn images, so when they contacted me letting me know that they were expecting their second I was elated!   I was blessed when they once again invited me into their lives to capture sweet Hattie’s entrance into this world.   My favorite part of the experience was seeing big sister Coralie meet her sister for the first time, so I knew that when the time came for the newborn session that we would have some fun.  Coralie and Hattie did not disappoint.  Big sister was such a sweetheart and cutie-pie Hattie slept like a dream.   In fact…when the time came for me to shoot a promotional video (a behind the scenes of Blue Daisy Art) I invited her and her mom back!

I hired the fabulous Lydia Steumke to capture a maternity and newborn session and capture the essence that is a Blue Daisy Art experience.  Lydia did an amazing job and sweet Hattie’s mom gave an incredible interview about her experience.  You can check out the video here!

Mason | Springfield Rochester IL Newborn Photographer

Around  the time that I photographed cutie-pie Mason I was on a streak of photographing siblings of former newborn clients.  I love seeing families again when they have another child.   When I photographed Mason’s big sister I was in my old small studio in my old home.  This time when they returned to my brand new, expanded studio!   Mason was just a dream baby for his session sleeping away his session and waking up towards the end to give me some eye open shots.
