When Claire came in for her newborn session, she was a perfect angel. She slept like a dream, smiled a couple times and despite a little bathroom accident on a special item her mom brought, it was a perfect session. For her 4 month milestone session, when she first came in, she was definitely having a rough day. However, after some cuddles from mom and dad, she came around a bit enough to get some adorable smiles, and seriously….how adorable is she?!
As many of you may know, last summer I was thinking about expanding my business- at the time I was only taking on birth, belly and baby clients. Although I had captured families years ago when I began my business, I wanted to make sure that I truly had the passion, energy and skills to capture families with the high-quality that my clients have come to know me for. I enrolled in an online “Family Photography” retreat and after taking it, knew I wanted to utilize my newfound skills and test out the waters as to if I would offer family sessions in the fall.
The “P” family had contacted me regarding one year images for their daughter. Since I had captured their newborn images, I had worked with them before and knew they would be a great one to work with as I explored more into family photography. I brought up the idea of an outdoor family session, instead of a studio session, and mentioned that we would incorporate some individual images of both kids.
And so we were off…with my newfound knowledge from fantastic internationally known photographers like Rachel Vanoven, Sarah-Beth Photography, Twig and Olive Photography and others. I could not have been more pleased with the results of their session.
A sweet March baby, Annie’s momma opted for a green St. Patrick’s Day theme for her smash cake session. Before the cake though, we captured some adorable images of Annie in one of my sweet green rompers with coordinating floral crown, as well as some images on her in an adorable pink dress that her mom brought.
This sweet 1 year old was on the move, already walking to keep up with her big sister. Fortunately for us, she loved being a *big girl* and sitting on my stool and loved her delicious cake! I loved capturing this sweet girl’s first year and cannot WAIT for her little sister to be born this coming year, as I will get to spend even more time with this awesome family.
Cutie-pie Cannon and his adorable cheeks came back to see me a few months after his newborn session for a milestone session! This sweet little man was full of smiles and belly giggles, especially when his big sister Peyton was around. I was able to capture his sister’s birth and entire first year of milestones, so it was so exciting that his parents brought him back to me to capture his first year. Both his momma and I loved being able to compare Cannon and Peyton’s images.
I feel so blessed whenever I get to witness and capture the birth of a new life. It truly is such a privilege that I get invited into one of the most intimate and special times of a family’s life. When I captured sweet Eloise’s birth day, it was such an exciting time and I loved that I would then be able to see her grow over her first year and capture her milestone sessions.
First up in her milestone sessions was her 4 month session. This is always a fun time, as babies are able to push up on the bellies and flash their adorable smiles. At Eloise’s session we were fortunate to have some great weather, so after capturing some studio images we stepped outside to capture a few more images. I just fell in love with her gorgeous blue eyes and big gummy smile 🙂
