The Birth of Bailey | Springfield IL Birth Photographer

When Bailey’s mom contacted me about photographing the birth of her second child, I told her that I would love to, but that if the baby decided to come early we might run into a problem as I was planning to go to St. Louis for Thanksgiving weekend.   I would most certainly drive back from St. Louis if that happened, but it would tack on a 2 hour drive until I could be there.   I received a text a couple weeks before Bailey’s due date, November 26th “Induction tomorrow at 5am!”   Her fluid level was low and they were concerned about little Bailey, so her doctor decided on an early induction.  The good news was that I wasn’t in St. Louis, the bad news was this was the one day my husband was working an 11pm-7am shift, so he wasn’t able to watch our daughter.  Fortunately, with photographing births I have a wide array of folks that help me out when I get unexpectedly called and I was able to drop my daughter off that evening to stay at a friends home.

The next morning at 6:05am I received a text that they were settled into their room and she was at 3cm without any medication.  Due to the fact that it is her second child, I decided to go over to the hospital early.   Throughout the morning as she slowly progressed more and more family began to arrive.  Bailey was so very blessed to have so many people who couldn’t wait to meet her.   Once the late morning hit, the doctor decided to give her some medication to assist her progress.  Hour after hour she was getting closer and closer to making her arrive.     Finally at 2:17pm (within 5 minutes of the exact time in which her older brother came into the world years ago) Bailey arrived.

If you have a couple minutes, you should watch here slideshow video.  If for no other reason that to see her adorable older brother singing “Hush little baby” to her…how stinking adorable!!
